Sending Files with MassTransit Outlook Plug-in

Once you have configured the Outlook plug-in, you can start sending file attachments with or without the MassTransit service.

Using the Outlook Plug-in:

    1. Create a new e-mail message, specify the recipient e-mail address in the To field. Recipients can be any arbitrary email address, multiple email addresses, groups, or distribution lists.

Note that when sending files or folders to a distribution list, you need to expand the list in order to allow all members to download the files. You can expand the list by selecting the "+" sign in front of the distribution list and confirm the process by selecting the OK button. If you send files to a distribution list without expanding it, just one member would be able to download files.

    2. Attach files or folders:

  • There are three available options for adding an attachment:
    • You can attach files by clicking on the default Outlook Attach File button or by using the drag and drop option.

If the size of each attachment is over the size threshold specified in the Plug-in settings, MassTransit will take care of the attached files and a download link will be included in the email. To reconfigure the size threshold select the Setting button from the MassTransit toolbar and enter the desired size value.

    • You can attach files using the Attach File button from the MassTransit toolbar. If you choose this method to attach files, all attachments will be processed by the MassTransit service no matter the size of each item.
    • You can attach folders using the Outlook plug-in, to do so click on the Attach Folder button from the MassTransit toolbar and browse the desired folder.

All attachment items will be displayed in the message.

Please be informed, that the size value for attachments that are going to be sent via MassTransit does not correspond to the real size of the attachment, the displayed value is the size of the download generated from the MassTransit link.

    3. When you have completed the message Send the email. After selecting the Send button you will be prompted to connect to the MassTransit server. Enter your MassTransit web client account username and password in order to establish connection.

File Delivery with MassTransit Outlook Plug-in

MassTransit Outlook Plug-in users can send files or folders to any valid email address. If the recipient email address does not belong to an existing contact on the MassTransit server, an account with that address will be automatically created. Depending on the MassTransit server configurations additional two emails can be sent to the recipient:

After MassTransit creates a new account, an email action may be configured to send a welcome email to the recipient contact’s email address.

  • The "welcome email" from MassTransit contains information about the created account and an automatic login link. In order to complete setting up the account, the user must create a permanent password.
  • A "notification email" may be sent from MassTransit, containing information about the available for download files and a link.
